More on Guy Fawkes

2 years ago, ITV decided for the 400th anniversary of what would have been the biggest single piece of terrorism in the world at the time. Guy Fawkes' plan to blow up the houses of parliament whilst the King, Archbishop of Canterbury and Prime Minister were all inside was stopped at the very last minute, and is something this small island celebrates each year ever since.
The programme showed what would have happened if the gunpowder, all 1 ton of it, had actually gone off. Explosives experts said that it might kill him. Historical experts said it wouldn't have mattered. What actually happened is jaw-dropping.
