Comedy Duos

Comedy is best when one joke is bounced from one person to another. Where would we be without Morecambe and Wise, Laurel and Hardy, Smith and Jones, and the Chuckle Brothers Two Ronnies. Sitcom hasn't been the best place for the duos, but comedy greats like Only Fools and Horses, Porridge and Steptoe and Son have also shown how the comedy format can be used to enhance the experience. And yet, strangely (and finally getting to the point), one person stands out as always being alone.

Blackadder, Mr. Bean, Johnny English, all unique and funny characters played by Rowan Atkinson. But could we imagine him in a double act? Before you all start harping on about Not the Nine o'clock News, that wasn't strictly a double act. The same goes for Blackadder, in that you can argue he had a double act with Tony Robinson. Admittedly when he first started out, he worked with Angus Deayton a lot, but his talent shone through and singled him out. The one thing I got to thinking was could he team up with anybody else? David Jason would be an obvious partner, but that's because he can work with anybody. The same goes for Ronnie Barker if he was still around. It's all food for thought.
