Suggestions Please.

John is going away with his school to the Normandy beaches in a month's time. I have decided I will take the time, and bugger off for a night of drinking and debauchery (okay, just the drinking, and a bit of relaxing) but I don't know where to go. I only have one night away, so I don't want to be driving all day to get there, sleep, and then drive all the way back. Can anyone come up with any suggestions? The criteria is:

1. Relaxing.
2. Maybe staying in a pub
3. Something to see or do, but not too energetic
4. Realistically within 4 to 5 hours drive.
5. Maybe to say hi to someone.
