For what seems like an eternity, we've been treated to Have I Got News For You. The original teaming up of Angus Deayton, Ian Hislop and the inimitable Paul Merton have meant we have been treated weekly for well over 20 years to the same style of joke and always pleasantly surprised by how funny it is. Let me give you an example. How many jokes can you make about Pot Noodle?
Yes, it's funny. But in recent years I've found a young pretender threatening the throne. Mock the Week, with it's regular panels of Hugh Dennis, Russell Howard and Andy Parsons, has me in stitches each and every week. The format is very different, being more based around stand up comedy. The bulk of it is just comedians talking about what's been happening in the news, but the last 5 minutes of the show there's a truly inspired "unlikely..." or "Things you'd never hear..." slot. This has me normally gasping for air, as one line is surpassed by another. And that's this week's video. "Lines that you'd never hear in a Bond film" and "TV Shows that never made it to air."
Enjoy.
