Apparently police are looking for a suspect seen wearing dirty old clothing, a head made from a carrier bag with a face drawn on it, and last seen hanging around the corner with a sign around his neck asking for a "penny."
In the meantime, children could be seen with marshmallows, sparklers and the occasional jock strap smouldering gently.
(Don't you just love the way the BBC news item has a picture of a fire engine. Just in case we don't know what one looks like...)
